My Biography

Let me start by saying, I am not a professional pinstriper. I pay my bills by working as a software developer for Cargill Meat Solutions, but that doesn't mean that I am not passionate about learning the craft of pinstriping. I'm working very hard and dedicating a good majority of my free time to learning everything I can about the art form. The goal, for me, is to continue to hone my skills to point that when I retire from my corporate job, I can make the transition to professional pinstriper. So, that gives me 30 years to get really, really good.

How I Got Started:

Around 2002 a good friend, and an amazing artist, named Ron Pinkston gave me a brush and a how-to tape he produced back in the 80's. I played around a little but never really made any progress. In 2005 I had a 55 Buick that needed some flames striped so I contacted Pinkston. I took the opportunity to quiz him on several things I had been struggling with and it all finally started coming together for me. A little later that year I discovered an online community of pinstripers at SketchKult.com who have been instrumental in furthering my understanding.

You want me to do what:

Even though I don't consider myself a professional striper, I do try to make a few dollars striping from time to time to offset my expenses. So please feel free to contact me if you're interested in getting something striped. However, I'm very selective about the paying jobs I take for the following reasons:
  • I refuse to take jobs that should be going to a professional pinstriper. The last thing I want to do is take food off the plate of the people who have been kind enough to share their knowledge and experience with me.
  • I understand the impact bad pinstriping has on the market. I refuse to devalue the market for other artist by putting poor quality work on a customer's vehicle.
If you do contact me and it turns out that I'm not the right guy for the job, don't despair. Chances are that I can put in touch with someone that has the knowledge and experience to give you exactly what you're looking for.

My Goals:

Learn as much as possible about pinstriping, lettering, and hand painted graphics so that I can one day be a top notch professional craftsman, highly sought after by people who love the art form, and appreciate the classics. In the meantime, I hope to help raise public awareness and appreciation of pinstriping, and support people who share my passion for it.
